The 33-year-old German will team up with Lance Stroll, 21, the son of Canadian billionaire Lawrence Stroll, co-owner of Racing Point.
The announcement comes after Sergio Pérez revealed Wednesday night that he was no longer looking through Racing Point after seven years with the Silverstone-based team.
Vettel said: “I’m incredibly proud to say that I will become AnTon Martin’s driving force in 2021. This is a new adventure for me with a really mythical car manufacturer.
“I was inspired by the effects of the team this year and I think the long run seems even brighter.
“I still have a lot of love for Formula One and my only motivation is to run on the most sensitive thing on the grill. Doing so with Aston Martin will be a great privilege.
Team principal Otmar Szafnauer added: “Sebastian is an identified champion. On a Saturday or Sunday afternoon, Sebastian is one of the most productive in the world, and I can’t think of a greater driving force for us in this new era. “
Vettel heads to 9 of 16 this weekend, a modest 13 in the championship after the worst crusade of his career.
He will be replaced through McLaren’s existing driving force, Carlos Sainz, in Ferrari next year after the appearance of Charles Leclerc as the Italian team’s team selection to finish a motor forces championship dating back to 2007.
Vettel, who won four consecutive Red Bull titles between 2010 and 2013, and in terms of victories, is the 3rd highest hit in the game’s history, only Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton, signed through Ferrari to end this era without success.
But the Italian hierarchy has grown after several seasons plagued by Vettel’s mistakes that have allowed Hamilton to qualify for the last three world championships.
Leclerc’s arrival last year accelerated his departure, as Ferrari did not even grant Vettel an extension of his contract that expires at the end of the year. Vettel hopes the switch to Racing Point will bring new life to his career.
Racing Point has been at its highlights this year after being tied up with 15 issues and fined 361,000 euros for copying parts of the Mercedes with which Hamilton led to the title last year. They’re fourth in the constructors’ standings, two Ferrari advances.
