Sevilla had goalkeeper Bono to thank after winning a 1-1 draw against local rivals Real Betis on Saturday, but the point is not enough to prevent them from fleeing the four most sensitive in La Liga.
Sevilla are now fifth in the table with 27 problems after Villarreal moved up to fourth of 29 after a 2-1 home win over Levante, thanks to goals from Fernando Nino and Gerard Moreno. Betis is ninth with 20 numbers.
Bono stored a penalty from French striker Nabil Fekir in the 75th minute to maintain his appearance after a Sergio Canales penalty nullified a shot from Suso in the 48th minute.
Betis had governed the first half but could not make their initial tension count and Canales and Fekir did not hit the goal with transparent occasions. (Reporting via Richard Martin; editing via Clare Fallon)
