GELSENKIRCHEN, Germany (AP) – Shakhtar Donetsk beat Basel on Tuesday 4–1 to host a Europa League semi-final, Inter Milan.
Moraes gave the Shakhtar the lead in the minute of the moment with a header from Marlos’ corner. It is the 25th goal of the Brazilian-born Ukrainian striker in all competitions, having scored two against Wolfsburg on the return of his 16th circular last week.
Afimico Pululu almost matched Basel’s solo effort, Taison jammed the Shakhtar’s moment with a deflected shot after a thin, smooth team play in the 22.
Mark António almost added a third when he hit the crossbar with a curling shot at 40. Raoul Petretta filed an authorization to prevent Moraes from rebounding.
Alan Patrick’s penalty in the pot sealed the Ukrainian team’s position in the semi-finals, before right-back Dodo added fourth.
The tournament is played shortened in Germany due to the coronavirus pandemic, which has forced all European competitions to be interrupted for months.
Shakhtar will play at Inter Dusseldorf on 17 August. The latter will take position near Cologne 4 days later.
