Danny Rohl has been named as early bookmakers’ favorite to upgrade Russell Martin as Southampton’s new manager.
The Sheffield Wednesday coach, who prepares for the League match against Stoke City next Saturday (12:30 h), is the first favorite for the new premier lionees and Talksport holidays has pointed out as a serious contender. Martin was fired last night after Southampton was defeated 5-0 at home through Tottenham, leaving them behind with only five problems in 16 games.
Rohl, 35, took over at Hillsborough in October last year, having coached at Southampton under Ralph Hasenhuttl, as well as at Bayern Munich and as an assistant with the German national team.

Martin took over at Southampton at the start of last season and won promotion through the play-offs by playing a very different taste to the direct football Rohl used to maintain on Wednesday.
Southampton said in a statement: “At the start of the season we knew all the demanding situations we would face this year as we readjusted to life at the elite level, competing in the most competitive league in the world.
“However, the truth of our scenario is clear. The board of directors supported Russell and his team and was open and transparent about our expectations. We are all on the same wavelength when we detect the urgency of improving the effects. “
