An intriguing game has been removed from the West Texas football schedule this season.
Wall’s Week 6 game, which was intended to be a neutral-based showdown in Fredericksburg as opposed to Shiner Comanches 2A Division I, canceled through Shiner, according to Wall Houston football coach Guy.
Wall will play a game on October 2, but will update Shiner with the San Antonio Cornerstone, which is scheduled for September 11 at Wall’s Hawk Stadium.
The Hawks moved Midland Christian from Week 3 to Week five when they traveled to Midland for a game september 2-5.
The opposite game to Shiner would have two perennial playoff teams.
Last year, Wall qualified for the regional semifinals in the Class 3A Division I. Shiner had a 12-1 record last year at 2A DI. The Comanches rank No. 1 in the state according to Texas Football magazine’s pre-season rankings. Wall ranks number five in the preseason.
Here’s Wall’s revised program: August 28 in Eastland; September 4 opposite Cisco; September 11, opposite San Antonio Cornerstone Christian; September 18 opposite Mason; September 25 at Midland Christian; October 2 open; October 9 in NAFTA; On October 10 to Jim Ned; 23 October v Breckenridge; October 30 in Clyde; November 6 vs. November 6 Early.
