NEWS. . . BUT NOT AS YOU KNOW IT
Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe will re-sign Scott McTominay after intervening for the midfielder to remain at the club.
The Scottish foreigner has been in fine form for the Red Devils this season, scoring nine goals in all competitions.
McTominay was on the verge of leaving Old Trafford last summer, and West Ham were interested in signing him to update Declan Rice.
The midfielder’s prestige as a product of the academy is valuable, as his departure would lose ground in terms of collective benefits and sustainability rules.
But McTominay ended up staying at the Theatre of Dreams after a failed move to east London and has inspired Erik ten Hag this season with the fact that he has once again put his head down.
However, the Dutchman is willing to take credit for McTominay this summer if he loses space in his budget.
But the Daily Star claims Ratcliffe will block his exit because he needs to offer McTominay a new deal.
The Scot, whose current contract runs until 2025, will get a boost on his £120,000-a-week contract.
Ratcliffe and his INEOS McTominay team are part of the future of the club and can thrive even more in the right sporting environment.
United will let Casemiro leave this summer if a suitable offer comes in and they are looking for a new defensive midfielder on the market.
