Soccer-Galaxy part ways with head coach Schelotto

LA Galaxy has separated its tactics with head coach Guillermo Barros Schelotto, as the club ranks last in the Western Conference with 3 games to play in the 2020 campaign, Major League Soccer (MLS) said Thursday.

Former Boca Juniors coach joined MLS’s top-hit club in January 2019 and led them to a 21-26-6 record, adding 5-11-3 in the 2020 regular season.

“Based on the results, we must move in a different direction,” Galaxy CEO Dennis Te Kloese said in a press release.

Schelotto, 47, spent most of his 16-year career in Boca, winning three Copa Libertadores titles and scoring 86 goals. He played 10 times with Argentina.

Schelotto will be replaced interimly through Dominic Kinnear for the rest of the season.

“The LA Galaxy is a club that is based on winning in the box and is representative of the mentality and pedigree of the championship expected in Los Angeles,” Kloese said.

“As a club, we have a collective duty and will have to fulfill the entire percentage of duty for the current position of the club. I take the duty for the wrong effects and we can find the right path for this team and our club. “(Report through Frank Pingue in Toronto, edited by Ed Osmond)
