Soccer-Lucescu to Coach Dynamo at U-turn

(Reuters) – Romanian Mircea Lucescu said tuesday that he would take over Ukraine’s top-notdo club Dynamo Kyiv a day after he resigned following fan complaints about his appointment.

Dynamo enthusiasts were furious with Lucescu’s appointment because in the past he had reshaped Dynamo’s fierce rival Shakhtar Donetsk into a force to be taken into account in Europe.

Lucescu said Monday that he cannot paint in a “hostile environment.”

A day later, however, he trusted Dynamo’s president, Ihor Surkis, to take over the club.

“Dear Mr. President, I deeply respect your determination in the progression of FC Dynamo,” Lucescu said in a publication on Dynamo’s website.

“My fears were only a similar not to create difficulties for the football circle of the relatives of the Kiev club.

“I am sure that with you we will have those significant effects that will radically replace the attitude towards my appointment and the long-term paintings of the club under my leadership.

After joining Shakhtar in May 2004, Lucescu won 8 Ukrainian league names, five national cups and won the Europa League name in 2009 to the club’s top as a successful manager.

Lucescu, who also trained Inter Milan, Galatasaray and Besiktas of Turkey, Zenit St. Petersburg and several other clubs, replaced Oleksiy Mykhaylychenko, who was fired last week after Dynamo’s disappointing season.

“Together, we face demanding new situations and combined we continue to write Dynamo’s excellent history,” Surkis said. “We hope that the mythical Mircea Lucescu will leave her bright page in this column.”

Dynamo, Ukraine’s most popular and successful club with 15 league titles since 1993, finished moment in the league, but with 23 editions Shakhtar, who has won the championship in the last 4 seasons.
