Some Chelsea players sign long-term contracts

NEWS. . . BUT NOT AS YOU KNOW IT

According to reports, some Chelsea players in Mauricio Pochettino’s team signed such long contracts at the club.

Since co-owner Todd Boehly replaced Roman Abramovich in May 2022, the Blues have had to give their new signings long contracts.

Mykhailo Mudryk, signed in January 2023, landed an eight-and-a-half-year contract after arriving at Stamford Bridge on an £88. 5m contract from Shakhtar Donetsk.

Enzo Fernandez arrived in the same moving window for £106. 8m and earned the same, with his contract expiring until 2031.

Summer signings Moises Caicedo and Nicolas Jackson are also under contract until 2031, while Chelsea have nine additional players until 2030.

They are Robert Sanchez, Benoit Badiashile, Djordje Petrovic, Noni Madueke, Cole Palmer, Malo Gusto, Romeo Lavia, Lesley Ugochukwu and Deivid Washington.

According to The Athletic, some of Chelsea’s newcomers have spoken privately about the long-term contracts they have signed.

It is believed that they do not see the “big project” that was sold to them in the first place.

Chelsea are on the back foot this season and the club is 11th in the Premier League standings after 23 games played.

Head coach Pochettino is very tense after Sunday’s 4-2 home defeat to Wolves, with Jose Mourinho among the favourites to update him.
