Matt Macey has passed a Hibernian doctor who is waiting to finalize an Arsenal payment before sealing the transfer, as Football Insider can reveal exclusively.
The online page first announced in the morning that the 26-year-old was on his way to Easter Road for a medical examination and signaled a short-term deal until the end of the season.
An Arsenal told Football Insider that Macey had completed a medical examination with Hibs and accepted non-public terms.
But the measure has still been sealed pending the conclusion of a “commitment agreement” with the London giants.
This will involve Arsenal paying a significant portion of the rest of Macey’s contract, which runs until the end of June.
Conversations are said to be at a complex stage.
The 6-foot-7-inch goalkeeper has been informed that he will get a contract extension at Emirates Stadium to upgrade his existing contract.
This will end Macey’s eight-year stay at Emirates Stadium, which began in October 2013 when he signed with Bristol Rovers.
The gunman has the opportunity to start his career in Scotland with the imminent transfer to Easter Road.
He failed to impress in Arsenal’s first team despite his two appearances last season.
Macey kept a blank leaf at an impressive start against Red Star Belgrade in the Europa League and also played in the Carabao Cup win over Norwich City.
But he failed to climb above the goalkeeper’s 3rd position at Arsenal and discovered himself Bernd Leno and Runar Runarsson in the hierarchy this season.
Macey has already been loaned to Accrington Stanley and Luton Town in League Two and Plymouth Argyle in League One.
In other news, it would possibly reveal that Arsenal received their first signing in January after they were granted permission to complete their doctor.
