Celtic has received a new loan offer for Shane Duffy accepted through Brighton, revealing insider information about football.
The Hoops are expected to sign the 28-year-old headquarters in the coming days after reaching an agreement with the Premier League club on the deal.
Sources from both clubs told Football Insider that Duffy had made it clear that he was looking to point out striker Celtic from rivals West Ham and West Brom.
Last week he revealed that Brighton expected more than 2 million pounds for the defender, and that Scottish giants were willing to pay only about 1 million pounds.
But the stalemate has now been damaged and Celtic is sure to complete the transitority signing within the next 72 hours.
It will be a primary blow to Neil Lennon, who has made it clear that he is a proven central defender as his team pursues a historic 10.
Brighton has given the go-ahead for the departure of the Republic of Ireland international, he is expected to review a new three-way defence next season.
Graham Potter has a number of central defense options, with Captain Lewis Dunk, Adam Webster, Ben White, Leeds’ 2019-2020 loan sensation scheduled to start the season.
Duffy has made it clear that he will play a regular first-team football and opened the door for The Celtic and Premier League teams.
As revealed through Football Insider, Hoops bosses met with their Brighton peers for additional discussions on Monday.
Duffy is expected to sign up for a season loan, possibly there would be a release clause in January.
In other news, Celtic agreed to the terms of a successful signing after the completion of medical examinations.
