Celtic agreed to cover the maximum wages of Shane Duffy in Brighton while the finishing touches were given to a season-long loan, Football Insider learned.
The Hoops are about to complete the 28-year-old headquarters capture after the Premier League team accepted their loan offer.
Sources from both clubs told Football Insider that Celtic would pay most, but the entirety, of Duffy’s $45,000 a week’s salary, which is more than any Parkhead player.
It’s an agreement neil Lennon has lobbied for and it’s a primary blow through the Scottish giants.
West Ham had made Duffy one of his 3 most sensible central defense goals this summer, along with John Stones and Phil Jones, while West Brom also signed an agreement.
But Duffy had to sign up for Celtic for his historic 10-month tilt and all parties expect the deal to be reached soon.
Last week he revealed for the first time that Brighton expected more than 2 million pounds for the defender, and that Scottish giants were willing to pay only about 1 million pounds.
But the deadlock has now been damaged and Duffy is expected to enter Celtic’s defense for his next game against Ross County on September 12.
This comes at a time when there are doubts about Kristoffer Ajer’s long history, five weeks from the market.
The Norwegian has teamed up with the 2019 marquee by hiring Christopher Jullien at the defense centre last season.
But Ajer has gotten out of his way in some games this season amid hypotheses about a move to the Premier League or Serie A.
In other news, Celtic accepted the terms of a successful signing after the completion of medical exams.
