TEAMtalk understands that Newcastle United are making an offer for Chelsea winger Noni Madueke, as revealed via the former PSV Eindhoven star’s price.
Chelsea signed Madueke from PSV in January 2023 for around £28. 5m on a contract till 2030 after scoring 20 aims in 80 games for the Dutch giants.
After making 12 appearances and scoring one goal in the second part of the 2022/23 campaign, the former Tottenham academy product endured a frustrating start to the first part of the following season as a lack of playing time proved in ties with a January Release, as TEAMtalk reveals.
Although he remained at Stamford Bridge for the remainder of last season, our resources revealed in March that he was contemplating a permanent exit from the west London side as minutes remained difficult to come by.
However, then-manager Mauricio Pochettino made him a regular for the final two months of the season, which ended up producing eight goals and three assists in all competitions in total.
After the departure of the Argentine, Enzo Maresca is already on the bench. Madueke faces many festivals for a spot, adding Cole Palmer, Christopher Nkunku and Angelo Gabriel, among others.
Despite this, he insists he can be Chelsea’s right wing after the Blues tried and failed to sign Michael Olise from Crystal Palace, and the 22-year-old joined Bayern Munich.
After Chelsea’s pre-season draw against Wrexham, Madueke said: “Of course I believe in my abilities. We have a wonderful team full of wonderful players. Players capable of playing in other positions. It’s smart to have a team like that. ” I go out to be as productive as possible and see what happens.
“It’s a festival. The festival takes place all the time in the clubs. It’s just one of those. It’s nothing else or special. That’s right. I feel good.
“New director. New tactical ideas. It will take a little time for guys to fully assimilate it, but from what I’ve noticed so far, it’s promising. It’s another way of playing, but I think we’re well adapted.
“It’s about staying on top and hoping for that killer pass when you can do genuine damage. It’s about having patience and waiting for the opportunity to run and do my job. This is the manager’s field and if it is, then I will. Simple. “
TEAMtalk revealed in the past that Newcastle were keeping an eye on the 22-year-old, but due to fears of breaching profit and sustainability rules, they had to sell first before they could simply buy.
Those considerations were somewhat dissipated thanks to the move of £30 million from Yankuba Minteh to Brighton and the move of £35 million from Elliot Anderson to Nottingham Forest earlier this summer; they also spent £48m to sign Odysseas Vlachodimos from Forest and Lewis Hall from Chelsea.
Madueke’s arrival is unlikely unless Newcastle send some other player, but the fact that Miguel Almirón can leave St James’ Park may make a move possible.
Now, TEAMtalk can reveal that Newcastle is still a big Madueke enthusiast and is thinking of making a bid for him.
