The Stony Creek Racing Club will soon have safer and more available horse positions, thanks to increased investment from the Victorian government.
Racing Minister Martin Pakula today announced $175,000 from the Victorian Racing Industry Fund for the main south gippsland field upgrade, with the club making an investment of more than $135,000 and Racing Victoria contributing $75,000.
The old mooring posts south of the track have finished their career and are being replaced by 90 new positions with a redesigned design that improves the horse and movement.
Work has begun and is expected to be completed in time for the next Stony Creek assembly on December 28.
New concrete and drainage foundations will be installed as a component of the assignment, saving water and protecting participants, horses and the public, as well as giving owners greater access to see their horses.
Since December 2014, the government has provided more than $310,000 for nine infrastructure projects and 3 meetings in Stony Creek.
The thoroughbred racing industry in the Victoria region generates more than $715 million for the Victorian economy and is helping more than 6,100 full-time equivalent jobs.
As stated by the Minister of Careers, Martin Pakula
“This assignment will place Stony Creek as one of the maximum productive fields – and indeed the highest stage – in Victoria. “
“The old facility will be replaced by moored stalls that will be larger for horses, trainers and the public. “
As EASTERN Victoria MP, Jane Garrett
“The Stony Creek Racing Club is an establishment in South Gippsland and we are making an investment in its future, just as we have done over the past six years. “
As noted through Stony Creek Racing Club President Michael Darmanin
“We are grateful for the Government of Victoria in modernizing our posts. This task will enable us to achieve a long-term vision and build our reputation as one of Victoria’s most productive fields for sneakers and visitors. “
