Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has shown that one of his goalkeepers is expected to leave after discussing the addition of Angus Gunn to Stoke City.
A possible exchange of Gunn with Jack Butland in the national gossip columns a fortnight ago amid the search for a new club for Butland, who is in the last year of his contract with Stoke.
Adam Davies has become Stoke’s number one, Butland has kept leaves blank in the last two preseason friendlys against Leeds and Newcastle United.
But Southampton has lately been overburdened in their goalkeeper branch and Alex McCarthy is building his reputation in the Premier League.
Hasenhuttl has Fraser Forster back after a season on loan at Celtic.
“Fraser Forster will be with us for the moment,” said the coach at his press conference.
“Alex McCarthy is our number one, he’s grown a lot lately.
“The other two, Fraser and Angus Gunn, would possibly leave us and the other would stay with us. “
Hasenhuttl expects more business.
He said: “There are more desires to do in the moving market. We know we lost a number six to Piere-Emile Hojbjerg, so we’re going to do anything there. “
“There’s still time. I think we have a squad, but we have a lot of games this season, so we’ll want alternatives.
“I don’t need to talk about any of those rumors. “

Stoke also has 18-year-old Cameroonian Blondy Nna Noukeu as his third choice and New England under-21 call-up Joe Bursik on loan to Doncaster Rovers.
