Firefighters must battle a factory blaze as smoke rises and is visible miles away over a British city.
The gigantic plume of black smoke can be seen over Southampton and appears to come from a commercial building near St Mary’s Stadium.
Emergency services were contacted when crews rushed to the fire at a warehouse on Melbourne Street.
Surrounding roads are closed while firefighters deal with the incident.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service said: “Crews are battling a fire affecting commercial sets near St Mary’s Football Stadium.
“People in the domain are asked to keep windows and doors closed. Some roads near the incident are closed and others are asked to approach the domain to allow emergency vehicle traffic. “

100 firefighters put out a fire at a warehouse in Southampton.
The latest update from the chimney branch says that one hundred of its workers are working hard to control the chimney.
A spokesperson for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service said: “We have over a hundred people running incredibly hard to tackle a well-developed chimney near St Mary’s Stadium in Southampton.
“We have worked intensively with our partner agencies and Southampton Football Club on this incident, with tonight’s scheduled match postponed.
“We plan to be on site overnight and tomorrow. We are asking the public to come to the scene due to a series of road closures and local citizens to keep windows and doors closed due to the gigantic plume of smoke. “

Southampton FC said: “Southampton Football Club regrets to announce that tonight’s Sky Bet league match against Preston North End has been postponed.
“The resolution was taken after consultation with the local and emergency government after a main fire broke out the previous day at a construction site next to St Mary’s Stadium.
“The incident has caused significant disruption in the area, with roads around the stadium still closed as firefighters continue to manage the situation.
“We are grateful for the cooperation of Preston and the EFL, and while we appreciate the sadness fans might feel, we hope they understand the need to prioritise the protection of fans and any of the clubs.
“The match will be postponed to a new date, to be announced in due course, and all tickets for tonight’s match will be valid for the rescheduled fixture. “
An EFL added: “The EFL can verify that tonight’s Sky Bet Championship match between Southampton and Preston North End has been postponed due to fitness and protection considerations following a fire near St Mary’s Stadium.
“The league will liaise with both clubs to set a suitable date to reschedule the match and the main points will be presented in due course. “
As a fire burns in Southampton, the ambulance service has indicated that one rider is being treated for “mild smoke inhalation”.
A spokesperson for South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) said: “We have our full Hazardous Area Response Team, an operational commander, a tactical adviser and an ambulance on this incident and are working with colleagues from the Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service and Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service. The police in a joint response.
“So far, only one patient with mild smoke inhalation has been evaluated and treated on-site and we remain on standby for HFRS if necessary, as is the same procedure as always when dealing with a fire of this magnitude. “

Pupils at St Mary’s Primary School in Southampton were expelled after smoke accumulated in the playgrounds.
They were taken to St Johns Primary and Nursery School on French Street at around 1. 45pm.
