Gillingham has signed Southampton defender Tommy O’Connor on loan for the time being.
The 21-year-old made 32 appearances with the Gills last season and told the club’s website, ”I’m very happy to be back, I had a smart season in 2019-20 and it was a shame that I interrupted him (because of the coronavirus pandemic) because we were fine.
“I enjoyed my destiny, the coach looked for me to come back, I know some of the boys and I know the area, so everything came together.
Coach Steve Evans added: “I’ve been talking to Southampton and Tommy all summer and I’m still convinced that if the kid got ceded, we’d be his favorite choice. “
“Our followers know how talented he is. You can play anywhere on the left side of the field, it has wonderful power and, as a child, will have a very comfortable compatibility with the young people that we now have on our team.
