Southampton showed off the hiring of Ivan Juric as their new head coach on Saturday of their clash with Fulham on Sunday.
Juric replaces Russell Martin, who brushed after the 5-0 defeat opposite Tottenham Hotspur last Sunday.
“I’m very pleased,” Juric said after signing an 18-month contract. “I think it’s a really big challenge but I’m very optimistic because I saw a team that can do better.
“It is vital to be connected to enthusiasts. I need a competitive team and I think Southampton’s enthusiasts will like it. “
Juric trained as Roma this season, where he had 12 games at the helm previously this season as a replacement through Daniele de Rossi before being dropped.
The Croatian coach has also had spells at Genoa and Torino in Serie A.
Southampton is at the back of the Premier League with five problems of 16 games, since he won once.
Juric said that he wanted the team “to be more aggressive” and to make “much more urgency”.
“We have to be quick to change the mentality because that is my concept of football,” he added.
