An English media report on Monday states that Southampton has opened contract negotiations with Danny Ings, just one year after signing for the club.
Ings, of course, spent the 2018/19 season at St Mary’s in Liverpool.
Southampton then secured the striker on a permanent basis last summer, for an estimated payment of about 20 million pounds.
And from his permanent transfer south, Ings is in a sensational way.
The centre forward, however, was able to see a complete crusade with no injury problems last time, and his performances reflected it.
Although Southampton had a poor start to the season, Ings still controlled to score 22 goals and two assists in the Premier League.
The tally saw the 28-year-old miss out on the Golden Boot with a solo goal.

But if Ings, in the end, failed to obtain the Golden Boot, its beautiful form nonetheless results in a position to be rewarded in other ways.
First, the Southampton star, who has only made one appearance for England in his career, won a call to Gareth Southgate’s last team for the Three Lions Nations matches in September.

And at the club level, as mentioned above, Ings will be rewarded for his very good 2019/20 with a new contract.
The 28-year-old has only two years left of his current contract.
But, according to a Sky Sports News report on Monday:
Southampton has started negotiations with Danny Ings on a new long-term contract for the striker.
