The Baltimore Ravens’ new offense has been the city’s communication during the NFL offseason. Expectations are high with the renewal of Lamar Jackson, the addition of Odell Beckham Jr. and Zay Flowers, as well as free agent Nelson Agholor and the return. From Rashod Bateman, the infraction on paper is loaded.
But. . . they’re all convinced by the Ravens’ offense.
In a segment for ESPN’s First Take, former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive back Ryan Clark named the Ravens as the biggest risk for the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC. But Stephen A. Smith convinced him through Todd Monken’s drive. Instead, you need to see the production first before proclaiming it as anything.
“We don’t have any evidence that those weapons are going to thrive in this system,” Smith said on First Take. “[They have] a new offensive coordinator, which is a smart thing to do. I know his defense is real; We perceive all of this.
“For me, I have to see it. I’m not saying Baltimore can’t do it. I say I’m looking forward to seeing them do it. “
Smith is right.
Beckham Jr. may make a difference, but how healthy will he be for the Ravens?Will he play 17 games? Can Zay Flowers’ skills carry over to the NFL?
Also, will players get used to Monken’s formula quickly enough to be able to start generating right away?
For Smith, there are a number of questions that want to be answered when it comes to Baltimore’s legitimacy to threaten the AFC Chiefs.
We hope, however, that those questions will be answered as soon as possible.
