BARCELONA, Spain (AP) – Luis Suarez scored an early goal for Atletico Madrid to win 2-0 for Celta Vigo and end the team’s historic drought in the Spanish league on Saturday.
Suarez made his debut for Diego Simeone by scoring two goals in a 6–1 loss to Granada after signing for Atletico from Barcelona, but since then, the Uruguayan striker and his teammates have tied for 0-0 against Huesca and Villarreal.
Suarez returned to the table when he scored in a pass by Manuel Sánchez in the 6th minute at the Balaodos stadium in Celtic, which was emptied of enthusiasts like all high-level matches in Spain for the pandemic.
Yannick Carrasco added a purpose in the discount time when he took the lead in a rebound after his replacement partner Joel Felix hit the crossbar with a curly shot.
