Supercomputer predicts Liverpool’s 2023/24 Premier League finish after Brighton draw | football

As things stand, Liverpool are expected to finish the 2023/24 season in second place, according to Opta’s “supercomputer”.

The Reds have made a strong start to the new crusade, picking up five wins out of eight so far, with their only defeat coming in highly debatable cases at Tottenham.

The defeat comes after five consecutive wins in the Premier League and, after a highly questionable midfield rebuild, Jurgen Klopp’s side have to look like themselves, especially from an offensive point of view.

Liverpool average 2. 25 goals per game, while Mohamed Salah leads the division in goal contributions (five goals, four assists).

Among the newcomers, Dominik Szoboszlai has impressed wonderfully, while Klopp’s ‘Liverpool 2. 0’, as they have been nicknamed, have shown great resilience to counter-attack and win matches after squandering positions already three times.

Optimism about the Reds’ departure is shared via Opta.

The knowledge scientists’ Premier League season simulation was updated after Week 8, before the foreign break, with Liverpool having a 42 per cent chance of finishing second, Manchester City, whose next name is (depressingly) regarded as an 80. % chance.

Meanwhile, Liverpool’s chance of winning its 21st place in the top flight in May is valued at just 12. 2%.

On a more positive note, however, Klopp’s men have just an 8. 6% chance of missing out on the top four for the second season in a row, according to calculations.

The second most likely position for the Reds is third with 24. 8%, while the fourth position is valued with 12. 6%.

When it comes to Liverpool’s rivals, Manchester United are the top performers, likely heading for the ninth-lowest position ever recorded in the Premier League, according to Opta, while Everton are expected to be ranked 16th.

After this month’s break, Liverpool will face Everton in the first Merseyside Derby of the season, with the clash taking place at Anfield on Saturday 21 October at 12:20 BST.
