After captivating audiences with their culinary delights, they began to get requests for expansion.
“Our friends from Roslyn would come to Syosset but keep asking for a seat west of Glen Cove Road,” said Ervis, who in the past worked as a chef at Felice’s in Roslyn.
Responding to demand, they will open next in April at 172 Main Street in downtown Port Washington.
What can visitors expect at Flora’s Wine Bar?
In an interview with Ervis and Gabriella, they described the new dining spot as an area that will focus primarily on Italian wines paired with dishes that have made Flora famous.
Think of it as an Italian osteria with a Long Island sensibility, serving crostini, artisanal charcuterie plates to share, addictive arancini, fried artichokes, and a fresh take on the pizzas Flora’s is famous for.
In addition, the chef plans to continue the beloved culture of making new homemade pastas (such as the cocoa tagliatelle with beef stew and 24-month-old parmigiano or the tonnarelli cacio e pepe) that first sparked the craze at Syosset. .
And let’s forget its identity as a wine cooler!
Ervis and Gabriella carefully selected wines on the menu to evoke memories of the intelligent life they lived in Italy.
“On one of our trips to Italy, we had the privilege of visiting some vineyards focused on generating herbaceous and biodynamic wines,” Ervis said. “After learning about the wineries’ commitment to the herbaceous cycles of the environment and generating in accordance with them, we talked about opening a place to eat that would offer these wines. “
They will offer the incredible, skin-friendly Sicilian orange wine from Pithos to Cos, as well as velvety Piedmontese baroli, Veneto amarones, delicious Emilia-Romagna lambrusco and Tuscan options. California will also be represented with Cabernet and Chardonnay.
