Minnesota Timberwolves goaltender Donte Divincenzo is out “indefinitely” with a sprained left toe, the team announced Monday.
The announcement came after an MRI determined the extent of the injury suffered by DiVincenzo in Wednesday’s loss to the Golden State Warriors.
The Timberwolves stated DiVincenzo is “currently seeking a second opinion to determine the best treatment options going forward.”
DiVincenzo is currently wearing a boot on his left foot, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.

He earned a spot in the starting lineup ahead of the Wolves’ home game against the Clippers on Jan. 6, and responded by averaging 14.1 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.5 steals in six games as a starter.
That limited stretching through the 28 problems of the season that registered opposites to the Warriors before their injury.
Veteran point guard Mike Conley, who came out of the lineup in favor of DiVincenzo, will likely remain in the fifth start after the news.
The absence may also increase pressure on rookie Rob Dillingham, whose minutes have been piling up in the Wolves’ last two games without Divincenzo.
Divinzzo’s injury can also influence the Timberwolves in the next deadline for exchanges.
Forbes’ Evan Sidery recently reported that the Wolves had become interested in Nickeil Alexander-Walker, whose contract expired.
Although Sidery reported the Wolves have “zero interest” in moving Alexander-Walker, the team could be compelled to make a move by their position over the second apron of the luxury tax.
If Wolves look to perform before the deadline, the team can potentially look at a player who can area and protect on the return to upgrade Divincenzo.
Divincenzo himself was considered an industry candidate through “several teams in dispute” earlier this season, according to Brett Siegel of Clutch Points. The damage could affect their potential advertising cost if the Wolves were making plans to postpone it until February 6.
