The 2024 Summer Olympics will kick off this week in 35 venues, basically in and around the host city of Paris, with competitions kicking off Wednesday at football and rugby venues.
The opening rite will break with tradition: it will take place on Friday on the Seine that crosses Paris, with boats for the national delegation. The six-kilometer floating parade will end in front of the Trocadéro.
The final ceremony will take place on August 8 at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis.
The Olympic Village is about 8 kilometers north of Paris, in parts of the cities of Saint-Ouen, Saint-Denis, and L’Ile-Saint-Denis. It has about 330,000 square meters.
