Team GB donates Olympic equipment and food to French charities

The British Olympic team expresses its gratitude to France, host of the Paris Games, by donating equipment, furniture and food to charities. The gesture includes the donation of king-size mattresses, sports equipment and leftover food to communities in and around Paris.

“Our French hosts have been glorious in welcoming us and our athletes,” British Olympic Association president Hugh Robertson said on Tuesday. So it’s absolutely exciting that, where we can, we give something back to those communities. »

Donations include king-size mattresses and furniture, which will be distributed to communities in Paris and its region through the French charity “Les Restos du Coeur. ” 

In addition, any leftover food from shipments sent to Team GB during the Games will be donated to the charity, as well as local food banks in Reims and Saint-Denis, a suburb of Paris where the athletes’ village is located.

Sports equipment will also be donated to Clichy, from Team GB’s Performance Lodge, as well as Saint Germain-en-Laye and Reims, where many British athletes trained for the Games.
