The Tennessee football team conducted COVID-19 tests in Sunday’s test series, coach Jeremy Pruitt said Wednesday, and some other players are quarantined by contacts.
There were no more players tested in Tuesday’s tests, Pruitt said.
Tennessee (2-5) will play on December 5 at home against number five in Florida (6-1).
Under SEC rules, an athlete with a proven infection will have to isolate himself for at least 10 days from the date of the positive control or the onset of symptoms. A Tennessee soccer spokesman showed that the flight player who tested positive was isolating himself.
SEC regulations stipulate that players who will have to be quarantined by touch search will have to do so for 14 days, which means that if Tennessee players who were affected by the touch search began quarantine on Sunday, it would be December 5 on december 14th quarantined.
“We have players quarantined. I don’t know the exact day of his release, but there may be some (who miss the game in Florida), yes,” Pruitt said.
This is the first positive check for a Flight football player since the start of the season, plus many false positives earlier this month.
Pruitt did not specify which player tested positive or who it is for contacts, or how many.
When asked in particular about quarterbacks, Pruitt said he thought everything would be available for the Florida game.
Tennessee will do so on Wednesday before taking a leave of license on Thursday and Friday.
On Tennessee’s scheduled Saturday opposite Vanderbilt he was postponed due to an SEC resolution to postpone the date of Vanderbilt’s makeup game in Missouri after Missouri postponed the Missouri game opposed To Arkansas due to COVID-19 with the Arkansas show.
Pruitt said his team was disappointed not to play this weekend, but added that he understood the SEC’s resolve to replace the schedule because it would allow Missouri to play all 10 games of its normal season through the SEC finish line on December 19.
