The Texas Tech Red Raiders replaced their 2025 football schedule, replacing a previously scheduled street festival with a home game, the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal reported.
In the past, Texas Tech was scheduled to face the Colorado State Rams of the Mountain West Conference on September 6, 2025. The game was over to be the first of a back-and-forth series that deserves to end at Jones AT.
According to the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal report, the Red Raiders bought the road game from Colorado State in 2025 and will pay the Rams $1 million for the cancellation. The prestige of the 2026 game in Lubbock is unknown, but he has gotten rid of it. from the official CSU website.
To update Colorado State’s contest, Texas Tech added a home game opposite the Kent State Golden Flashes of the Mid-American Conference (MAC) on the same date in 2025. Texas Tech will pay Kent State a $1. 5 million guarantee for the contest. according to the report.
Citing Texas Tech athletic director Kirby Hocutt in November, the report said the Red Raiders would secure at least seven home games according to the season going forward. There have been announcements about the purchase of the 2027 game in North Texas, but that game is still going according to plan. For now.
Texas Tech is scheduled to open the 2025 season at home against the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions on Aug. 30. Kent State then scheduled for Sept. 6 before the Oregon State Beavers traveled to Lubbock the following week, Sept. 13.
Texas Tech’s list of 12 parties to conflict in 2025 is also established. Texas Tech will host BYU, Kansas, the state of Oklahoma and UCF and will host the state of Arizona, Houston, Kansas, Utah and West Virginia.
Football schedules
The Red Raiders go from one Cupcake to another.
But they’ve gone from an away game to a home game, but the message they’re sending is clear. They want 7 home games per year; Texas Tech will rarely, if ever, flag houses and houses with schools out of power now.
Texas Tech is a terrible intermediate program. . . They are nothing special. The thing is, they’re probably nervous about betting on Colorado State right now. Paying $2. 5 million for a layup opposite Kent State. . . is low.
Fully Texas Tech will host Kent State in 2025 and I’ll be getting rid of the Colorado State Series.
I am that the TTU loss in Wyoming last year had nothing to do with that either
Exactly, Nick.
The CEC has called on its groups to also avoid bookmaker and bookmaker games with G5 groups. Soon, an away game between P4 and G5 will be incredibly rare, as P4 groups are looking to play 7-house games for as many years as possible. and as the gap between P4 and G5 continues to widen. It’s unlikely we’ll ever see a year like this again, in which 7 of the 12 Mountain West groups hosted a G5 team.
The other games P4@G5 in 2024 are
Duke @ Middle Tennessee
Cincinnati @ Miami (OH)
Interestingly, most of the P4s in question belong to the Big 12 and the ACC.
There’s no other way to put it, but it’s incredibly low.
