The summer window is open, with hypotheses about arrivals and departures already consistent in all clubs.
There has already been a flurry of activity, with Declan Rice’s £105m move to Arsenal lately as the biggest signing to date.
But while some players might pay a significant fee, others surely wouldn’t.
At the end of the season, there is the inevitable build-up in the number of loose agents, with players leaving clubs after their contracts end.
Some will be temporarily recruited through some other team, while others will spend weeks or even months for their next opportunity.
So, with so many players per club, who are the most prominent loose agents in the market lately?
Using the football Transfermarkt, we have combined a list of 15 players, deciding on those with the highest market value.
Before jumping to the 15 most sensible, we have to mention Eden Hazard, Sergio Ramos and Alexis Sanchez.
All 3 are former stars who are lately loose agents, but they are on the list because their market price is lower than other players.
Sanchez, a former Arsenal striker, is valued at just €4 million. The Chilean made his debut through Marseille and connected with a Premier League signing, Nottingham Forest.
Ramos, after being one of the defenders in fashionable football, is now without a club at 37 years old after being released by Paris Saint-Germain.
According to reports, the Spaniard, valued at 4. 5 million euros, would have signed for Inter Miami, but nothing has been announced yet.
Meanwhile, Hazard has reportedly turned down a resolution to sign for Miami, instead continuing his career in Europe.
Real Madrid and the Belgian winger agreed to the mutual termination of his contract earlier this year, with Hazard battling injuries and form after leaving Chelsea.
After joining Los Blancos for €100 million, Transfermarkt now estimates its market at just €5 million.
Given the profile of the 3 men, it is enough to mention them. Without a doubt, they would still bring anything to a team.
But now, here are the 15 highest-value loose agents on the market today.
Released from: Fenerbahçe
Zajc joined Fenerbahce in 2019 from Empoli and won the Turkish Cup in the 2022/23 season.
A midfielder by trade, the 29-year-old will score a goal from time to time and has won 39 caps for the Slovenian national team.
Released from: Tottenham Hotspur
The Brazilian winger joined Spurs in 2018 and made 221 appearances for the north London club.
His best moment in the Tottenham blouse was undoubtedly the hat-trick he scored against Ajax in the 2019 Champions League semi-finals.
But the Brazilian threw himself through Spurs after a poor last season, was sent off against Everton and gave Liverpool a beaten goal at Anfield.
There were reports that Crystal Palace were keeping an eye on Lucas in June, but they have yet to maintain that interest.
Issued From: Udinese
The Argentine joined Juventus’ Hornets in 2016 and has contributed 29 goals in 115 appearances.
In 2020 he returns to Italy signing for Udinese.
But after a forged 2022/23 season in which the 32-year-old scored five times and created seven more goals, he let go after failing to agree a new contract.
Pereyra may only stay in Italy, and Football Italia wrote that Torino was interested in the player earlier this month.
Released from: West Ham
After joining Al Jazeera in the United Arab Emirates in 2015, Lanzini made 226 appearances for the Hammers in all competitions, scoring 32 along the way.
He ended his time in east London on a high note, helping his side lift the Europa Conference League at the end of last season.
If anyone wants what the 30-year-old is capable of, here’s his very good goal against Tottenham a few years ago. . .
Released from: Rangers
Colombian striker Morelos has a fan favourite at Ibrox.
His achievements with the Scotland national team come with a league name in the 2020/21 crusade and a Scottish Cup the following year.
But despite scoring 124 goals for the club, Rangers showed Morelos would be leaving at the end of the 2022/23 season.
He admitted that if he sought to stay in Europe, he would be nowhere near being agreed.
Outside: Olympiakos
Few would have predicted Rodriguez would be a loose agent years after the 2014 World Cup. His performances in this tournament were very good.
But the 32-year-old has been without a club since April, when he terminated his contract through Olympiacos.
His break from football appears to be coming to an end soon, with the midfielder set to sign for Brazilian full-back Sao Paulo.
Aired Since: Nice
Barkley is no stranger to being a loose agent, leaving Chelsea in the summer of 2022 by mutual consent.
The 29-year-old then signed for French club Nice in September of the same year, but had a poor season, scoring 4 goals and assisting two more as his team finished ninth in Ligue 1.
His contract was not renewed at the end of the season, and he was connected with a move to Middlesbrough last month, for now he remains without a team.
Released from: Liverpool
During his time at Arsenal, Arsene Wenger said Oxlade-Chamberlain “has it all”.
But things didn’t work out after his time at Liverpool in 2017, as the Englishman seriously injured his knee in 2018, ruining his Anfield career at the start.
The midfielder made just 146 appearances for the Reds in his six-year spell, but that hasn’t deterred other clubs from seeking him out for signings.
A report from the Mirror said Brentford were in a position to give him a one-year contract, while Besiktas were also tracking him.
In addition, it is for the Saudi Pro League.
Outside: Arsenal
Maitland-Niles was released this summer when his contract expired, having spent last year on loan at Southampton.
The Hale End academy graduate had been at the club for 19 years but is now discovering himself for his next chance after 132 appearances for the Gunners.
He had been linked with a move to Everton, this is now “unlikely”.
Launched from: Forest Nottingham
Expectations were high when Lingard arrived at Forest, especially as he had a hefty salary of £200,000 a week.
But he failed to excel at the City Ground and ended the season with no purpose or a hand in the Premier League.
He had been studying with Inter Miami’s MLS team over the summer and Sky Sports reported in early July that he was considering donations from three clubs in Saudi Arabia.
Launched from: Everton
Davies had been at Everton since the age of 17 and made his debut as a 17-year-old against Southampton in 2016.
He then made 179 appearances for the Toffees, turning down a new contract at Goodison Park in search of normal first-team football.
With the 2023/24 crusade fast approaching, he still doesn’t have a team offering him that opportunity.
Outside: Wolverhampton Wanderers
Traore joined Wolves from Middlesbrough and would make him a nightmare for opposing defences.
His contract expired at the end of last season, but Wolves sporting director Matt Hobbs ruled out a new deal in June.
AC Milan also reportedly moved for the 27-year-old last month.
Launched from: Everton
The Colombian defender said goodbye this summer to Goodison Park after years and 99 games.
Although The Sun wrote that Fulham were interested in the 28-year-old, lately it remains a club.
In an interview with AS earlier this month, Mina said he felt calm about his future, with France on the table for him.
Outside: Manchester United
It’s arguably the biggest call on this list, but not the guy with the market value.
De Gea showed his departure from United earlier this month, 12 years after signing for the Red Devils from Atletico Madrid.
His 545 appearances and 190 blank sheets are United records for a goalkeeper, and his trophy wardrobe also includes a Premier League, an FA Cup and a Europa League.
He would now be a target for Bayern Munich, with Manuel Neuer now 37 and Yann Sommer as the subject for Inter Milan.
Issued From: Eintracht Frankfurt
Kamada is the most beloved player on this list, priced more than double the price of De Gea in the existing market.
He scored 40 goals and created 33 more for Frankfurt after his arrival in 2017, but the club showed in April that he would leave at the end of the 2022/23 campaign.
AC Milan reached a verbal agreement to sign the midfielder, Fabrizio Romano has since reported that the deal fell through after the Italian team signed Samuel Chukwueze.
