The Arsenal-Liverpool FA Cup match was watched by a record 7. 6 million

In the UK, there was a record increase in viewership in the third round of the FA Cup, Liverpool’s 2–0 win over Arsenal on 7 January.

The previous record for this level of the knockout festival of English football clubs when 7. 3 million watched Liverpool beat local rivals Everton 1-0 in 2020.

This isn’t the first time this season that Liverpool and Arsenal have been involved in a record-breaking match. The 1–1 draw between the two men on December 23 was the most-watched Premier League match of all time in the United States.

“It’s seeing record ratings for the FA Cup, a festival with so much history, drama and magic,” said Barbara Slater, director of BBC Sport.

“We are committed to providing the audience with the politics of the entire tournament, from live matches on TV and iPlayer, to TV highlights and virtual clips on BBC Sport and social media.

“I can’t wait to see what the rest of the competition has in store.”

Liverpool will face Norwich City or Bristol Rovers in the fourth match of the FA Cup on January 27. The Reds will face Fulham in the first leg of the EFL Cup on January 10.
