Given the high chances of at least one of those teams achieving the AFC championship, there are several scenarios that may lead to the resolution to hold the festival at an unbiased venue.
Why Mercedes-Benz Stadium, home of the Atlanta Falcons?
The NFL doesn’t want any more trouble, so traveling to a city like Cleveland, Pittsburgh, or New York can lead to unpredictable weather.
When the NFL plans its Super Bowls, the league has almost scheduled the game in an unbiased location, whether it’s in a stadium with an enclosed roof, like this year’s Super Bowl in Glendale, Arizona, or in a hot city. Mercedes-Benz Stadium has already hosted a Super Bowl. Recently, he also held a big unbiased game at the Peach Bowl a few days ago.
Atlanta is also between 800 and 900 miles away from Buffalo and Kansas City, a very imaginable matchup and a rematch of the 2020 AFC Championship Game.
Few places are so equidistant between those cities, and Cincinnati is only 500 miles from Atlanta.
When the league makes a decision on an unbiased site, there probably won’t be too many candidates on the roster as strong as Atlanta.
