Despite the abandonment of the decree on growth, Juventus remain adamant that Adrien Rabiot will remain in charge for years to come.
On Thursday, many resources in Italy had hoped that the Italian government would extend the application of the extension decree for two months, following recent requests from clubs.
Nevertheless, this scenario didn’t occur. Therefore, the rule will be abolished by the start of the new year.
The extension decree allowed Italian clubs to sign foreign players while saving 50% on salary taxes.
But starting in 2024, all players will get advantages of the same tax remedy when signing new contracts.
This may be problematic for Juventus, who have been reaping the benefits of the decree since signing Rabiot as a free agent in 2019.
The Frenchman has one of the team’s net salaries, receiving around €7 million per season. Thus, without the advantages of the extension decree, his gross salary would increase, especially if he signed a contract extension.
But according to ilBianconero, Juventus are still determined to sign the player on a new contract while keeping the same net salary.
The 28-year-old’s current contract expires at the end of the season, so his future is still up in the air.
But as the source explains, Rabiot’s importance to the cause, both on the pitch and in the locker room, will prompt the management to try its best to secure a deal with the player and his mother/agent Veronique, even if the operation will become more costly due to the recent developments.
