He will have the chance to win brownie themes against a Madrid team that suffered back-to-back defeats to Cadiz and Shakhtar Donetsk, effects that placed much of the pre-match review on Koeman’s counterpart, Zinedine Zidane.

As the former Dutch technician watches to end a two-match winning streak for Barca in Spain’s most important match, we took a look at how his predecessors behaved in his first LaLiga Classics. . .

The two canoes featured coaches who took rhythm from groups in a Classic for the first time and it was Guardiola who beat Madrid Juande Ramos.

The last goals of Samuel Eto’o and Lionel Messi earned Barcelona the win by ignoring Madrid’s 12 problems in the draw.

The victory came in a streak of 10 consecutive victories in La Liga and it is no wonder that Barca, who beat Madrid 6-2 later in the season, won the title.

TITO VILANOVA. BARCELONA 2-2 REAL MADRID. October 7, 2012.

The two clubs had already clashed in the Spanish Super Cup at the start of the season, with Madrid winning home goals after both groups won one match each.

Their first league match of 2012-13 faithful to Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi, both men having scored twice in a 2–2 draw.

Ronaldo scored for the sixth consecutive classic record to give Madrid the lead and, after Messi scored a double, Portuguese star Los Blancos has taken his overall to 160 goals in 155 games since reaching Manchester United in 2009 with a draw.

GERARDO MARTINO. BARCELONA 2-1 REAL MADRID. October 23, 2013.

All eyes were on the new signings Neymar and Gareth Bale and it was the first one that scored first to put Barca on the right track.

Alexis Sánchez would double that advantage and although Jese Rodríguez pulled one, Madrid fell in a loss that left six issues for Barcelona after just 10 league games.

Both groups would finish the crusade with 87 points, a total enough to win the league, with Atletico Madrid with 90 to be crowned champions.

LUIS ENRIQUE. REAL MADRID 3-1 BARCELONA. October 25, 2014.

The blaugrana had claimed 22 editions of the first 24 and had still suffered a defeat at the Santiago Bernabéu in October 2014.

Barça deyetant Luis Suárez, who returned after a four-month bite ban, prepared Neymar for the opener in the fourth minute, but the house fought back.

A fit Ronaldo tied for his 21st goal of the season before Pepe and Karim Benzema scored in the middle.

ERNESTO VALVERDE. REAL MADRID 0-3 BARCELONA. DECEMBER 23, 2017.

The horrific start to the 2017-18 Los Blancos crusade continued when Barcelona scored 14 points from the protective champions with a comfortable victory at the Bernabéu.

Suarez, Messi and Arturo Vidal scored, while Madrid, which had defeated Barca in the two Spanish Super Cup matches at the start of the campaign, caused Dani Carvajal to be fired by handball.
