But for Matthieu Predal, co-founder and co-organizer of the Delta, “studies” have shown that the limitations of this new venue, the necessary improvements and the preparation times would have made it possible to hold the festival in 2024.
Talks between the city of Marseille and the organisers led to this decision: the festival remains on the beaches but is forced to position itself in September. “It’s completely out of our control,” Pendal said, asking for “understanding” from the public.
However, the sustainability of the festival on the beaches does not seem assured. For Hervé Menchon, deputy in maritime and coastal management, “it is a small disappointment”, because “with the limitations of the Olympic Games, it was not imaginable to move the Delta, but I am happy that the calendar of the occasion can “move to periods of less frequentation of the beaches, with a shorter period of occupation. The negotiations are not finished, as in the case of maintaining access to swimming and the coastal promenade for all Marseille and all Marseille during the party. “Because the elected official is willing to this access to public space. “It’s disgusting that Delta reached out before the negotiations ended. I think by 2025 we will be better prepared to reconcile the issues,” he added.
On Dec. 12, Delta unveiled the first 10 names for this 2024 edition, which marks its 10th anniversary. An anniversary that will be celebrated in the company of some of the biggest names in the current French rap scene: the quartet SCH, Gazo, Tiakola, PLK. But also, on the electro side, Vladimir Cauchemar and Trinix, such as Trym for the hard-techno evening, as pop artists Jain and Julien Grenel, and Caravan Palace for a combined musical journey.
