The FC Barcelona star will receive a salary of $108 million per year from Saudi Arabia, reports Mundo Deportivo.

FC Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski has earned an outrageous salary offered to him by Saudi Arabia worth more than $108 million (€100 million) per year, according to Mundo Deportivo, citing anonymous sources.

Lewandowski won Spain’s most sensible goalscorer award in his first season at Camp Nou, after completing a transfer in the summer of 2022 worth $55 million (€50 million) in fixed and variable cash from Bayern Munich.

His job, however, came ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar in mid-winter, when the 35-year-old suffered a dip in form and was unable to recover his remarkable performances ahead of the overseas FIFA tournament.

In his second season, Lewandowski was criticised by many corners of the press and by Barça fans who felt that Father Time had come to attack for the veteran.

Recently, however, Lewandowski found new life in his second spell in Catalonia and put in a performance that he believes is perhaps his most productive in Barca colours, as he helped his side beat Atletico Madrid 3-0 at the Metropolitano with a goal and lend a hand last Sunday.

“In the last few weeks we have replaced education a little bit, with a little more intensity. I feel smart and I think my teammates feel [smart] too. We have to continue like this after the [international] break. It’s time to step up our efforts,” the Pole demanded.

Regardless of his performances at his club, Saudi Arabia’s towards Lewandowski have been consistent.

According to Mundo Deportivo, a delightful offer has been made in recent weeks from the Middle Eastern kingdom, whose government-backed Public Investment Fund controls four of the four most sensible clubs in the local Pro League, in favour of the No. 9.

This means that Lewandowski receives more than $108 million (€100 million) per season. And while most players would take advantage of the chance to gain such riches, anonymous sources close to Lewandowski’s camp have made it clear to the newspaper that he has no plans to leave FC Barcelona under any circumstances.

“Lewa” plans to end his contract, which runs until mid-2026, and has also been transparent in other interviews, such as the one given to the club’s official channels earlier this month, in which he said: ‘I’m staying in Barcelona’.

Most likely, this means that no amount of cash will be able to influence the leader; Saudi Arabia would possibly still be willing to welcome him with open arms when he becomes a free agent in two years’ time.
