Real Madrid, minus Cristiano Ronaldo, who quit the side in 2018 to join Italian Club Juventus FC, beat Villareal 2-1 on Friday night to clinch the La Liga title 2-1 with one game to spare.
Madrid’s chances came true after Barcelona failed in the 1-2 loss to Osasuna. The defeat left Barca with 79 points, seven to Real Madrid with one match to play, and the defeat provoked an anger from Lionel Messi. “We didn’t expect to end like this, but that sums up the year for us. We are a weak team that can be beaten with enough intensity and enthusiasm,” the Argentine told Spanish television.
It is Madrid’s first league name since the 2016–17 season and the moment with coach Zinedine Zidane. As in 2017, Real controlled to prevent their fierce rivals, Barca, from completing a hat-trick of league names. The capital team has already won the championship 34 times, against 26 names of Barcelona.

Earlier, Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane said that “my players are the best” and they all deserve to win the Ballon d’Or.
“I think my players are the best. Karim has done very well for many years, but as always, a player can win the Ballon d’Or and everyone can have their opinion. If you ask me if my players deserve it, I think everyone does,” Zidane told the club’s official website.
The Zidane-led team has shown shape since the resumption of La Liga following the coronavirus-imposed pardon. The club won all nine games after returning to the game.
