Juventus defender Koni De Winter will activate a clause that would allow him to move permanently to Genoa.
The Belgian joined the Bianconeri’s youth ranks as a teenager in 2018. He was with the U17 team before moving up the ranks.
The youngster played for Juventus Primavera as Next Gen and even made a few first-team appearances in the 2021/22 campaign.
De Winter then spent last season on loan at Empoli, and there were reports that he could fill a spot for Max Allegri’s side this season, especially after the departure of Leonardo Bonucci.
However, he ended up signing for Genoa on loan with purchase responsibility under certain conditions.
According to Calciomercato, De Winter is one appearance away from activating the buyover clause, completing a permanent move from Genoa to Juventus.
The young defender has established himself as a regular starter in Alberto Gilardino’s team, so his 25th appearance of the season is only a matter of time.
Thus, the Bianconeri are expected to raise €8 million through the promotion of the promising defender to Genoa.
De Winter would thus follow in the footsteps of Radu Dragusin, who had made a gesture towards the port city. Grifone then made a significant profit by promoting the Romanian to Tottenham Hotspur in January.
