A Manchester City fan protecting the coronavirus lockdown was extremely happy after Pep Guardiola made a phone call.
Connor Shaw, 20, was born with a congenital disease from the center, meaning that only part of his center developed.
At the age of three, he became so ill that he suffered an organic failure and had only a few days to live. But they gave him a center transplant that stored his life just in time.
Since then he has suffered more headaches and his mother, Maria Chebrika-Shaw, told MEN that there had been “so many times” that he thought he was going to die.
But the loyal City fan, Connor, of Chorlton, defied all odds and is about to turn 21 on August 13.
Yesterday (July 17) won a very special phone call from Pep Guardiola to wish him a happy birthday.
He has only been protective and has left space twice since February for a blood test, so his mother Maria said the call had encouraged him.
“He’s a little depressed and physically troubled,” Maria said.
“My sister posted some tweets and some City players tweeted her and asked her for a happy birthday.
“Then I won a message from the boy I was ranked through the club’s social media asking for my number.
“He said they wanted to do something special for Connor.”
Connor didn’t hear from the call until 20 minutes before and “overwhelmed” when Blues’ manager caught him.
“I took the phone to his room and Pep asked him how he was doing and said he hoped he was okay,” Maria added.
“At the end of the call, I wanted her to have a satisfied birthday.”
Maria recorded the phone call and posted the video on Twitter.
Since then, thousands of people liked it and retwated the clip.
Manchester City re-released the video by adding 3 Hearts of Love.
“We are all still in shock. He was satisfied and encouraged him because it was a difficult time for him,” Maria added.
“Connor’s face is a picture.
