FOXBORO, Mass. – The New England Patriots have lost three games in a row. They’re 2-4 in the season. If things aren’t replaced soon, some of your players may not stay here for long.
That’s the message security veteran and co-captain Devin McCourty noted after the 33-6 loss to the San Francisco 49ers at Gillette Stadium: he bills for the loss of Belichick’s home at the time.
McCourty called the defeat “disgraceful” several times in his post-match video conference.
“You never need to faint and feel embarrassed like we did today,” McCourty said. «. . . It’s just embarrassing that we went there and played.
“We want to pass out and play to keep the stalls right now. I know Coach Belichick, the Krafts, aren’t a team for us to play like this. So we want and want to do it quickly. “
The 49ers led the game in all areas, beating the Patriots 467 yards in 241, averaging 7. 4 yards consistent with a game opposed to patriots’ 4. 9, kicking only once (in their final possession) and intercepting four passes from Patriots quarterbacks Cam Newton and Jarrett Stidham (the first on the bench at the start of the fourth).
New England intercepted two Jimmy Garoppolo passes, but one rose to the finish line in the final seconds of the first half.
Since opposing Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 4, the Patriots’ defense has forced only three total loss problems to the Denver Broncos and 49ers and has given up trouble in 12 of their opponents’ last 19 possessions, knees.
The Niners scored touchdowns on four of their five trips to the red zone and went 5 out of 9 on the third outing (the Patriots were 1 of 7). San Francisco ran for 197 yards and hit New England in quick passes and other fast shots.
Eight of Jimmy Garoppolo’s 20 passes and 103 of his 277 aerial yards ended up in passes on the coup line, although the patriots’ former quarterback delivered a 35-yard bomb to Brandon Aiyuk who prepared a 49ers touchdown.
When asked what was wrong with defense, McCourty replied, “Everything. “
“We never had control of the game,” he said. Indoor tracks, outdoor tracks, some other important games, the course of the wheel in the aerial game. Many passes were that kind of missile sweep/launch, it’s like a race, but it’s a pass, and the bubble goes away. But (when) you give up 33 points, I don’t think we’ve done anything right today. “
The Patriots are behind the Buffalo Bills 5-2 to 2 1/2 games in the East AFC. They’re scheduled to cover expenses next Sunday.
“When you lose 33-6, you can’t say we’re close,” McCourty said. “That’s exactly what it is. We 2-4. No can say we’re here. We just have to put our heads down, and work. “
