Manchester City President Khaldoon Al Mubarak is “comfortable” with Pep Guardiola’s long career, as the Spanish coach enters the final year of his contract.
Guardiola has still extended his current contract with the Premier League club and the hypothesis of his long term will surely be accentuated in the coming months.
There were accusations that Guardiola could simply leave the City if they won their appeal opposed to a two-year European ban, but this legal war was successful.
Al Mubarak insists that there is no hurry for the future of former Barcelona coach and Bayern Munich, but he is not panicked by a possible exit.
“This verbal exchange with Pep is a verbal herbal exchange. Pep and I have a very transparent understanding of what’s smart for the club and what isn’t,” Al Mubarak told City on Tuesday.
“We have a transparent alignment regarding our long-term vision and what we need in terms of good fortune for the club.
“I think, once again, it will be a comfortable verbal exchange that will lead the way for Pep, for me and for the club. I’m very comfortable about it.”
Guardiola took over as City’s coach on his first three-year contract in 2016 and extended him for two more seasons in 2018.
The 49-year-old has won six primary trophies with City, two Premier League titles.
Although City finished with 18 issues, Premier League champions Liverpool last season and crashed the Champions League against Lyon, Guardiola still has the confidence of Al Mubarak.
“Everything will paint naturally and in the way, ” he said.
“We have the right people involved. We have intelligent confidence in others and the most productive will happen.”
Sergio Aguero, who missed last season’s final after knee surgery, is a vital figure who enters the final year of his contract with City.
Al Mubarak said the 32-year-old Argentine striker, who scored a club record with 254 goals for City, earned the right to leave that he wanted.
“Let a player like David dedicate 10 years of his life to the club, that a player like Sergio Aguero does the same thing, that’s what tells me we’re right,” he said.
“Now they are part of the club’s DNA and the resolution of continuing or preventing is the area of convenience they have to decide. Same with Vincent (Kompany).
“We will paint in combination and it will be very natural, whenever, this year or the next. It will be comfortable, regardless of Sergio’s decision.”
