Juventus are reportedly interested in Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte, who could be an exit from the Parc des Princes.
The Ligue 1 champions spent €60 million to sign Uruguay from Sporting last summer.
The 23-year-old managed to earn a starting spot in Luis Enrique’s line-up at the start of the season. However, 17-year-old gem Warren Zaire-Emery, among other factors, has limited Ugarte’s progress as the season progresses.
Thus, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Fabiana Della Valle, Juventus could have the opportunity and try to sign the defensive midfielder.
The former Sporting man is precisely out of PSG’s plans, although he has not established himself as a mainstay either.
As the report explains, the Uruguayan is a profile that the Bianconeri have been lacking in midfield lately. He knows how to win the ball back and also has the ability to pass, especially from close range.
It is possible that the Turin giants will lean towards a four-man defence for next season, so Ugarte may be the right profile to team up with Manuel Locatelli in double pivot roles if Adrien Rabiot extends his stay in Turin.
However, the player’s value may be the biggest hurdle, as PSG would need to record a capital loss after spending a plentiful amount of cash to sign him just a year ago. Therefore, a first loan with option or legal responsibility to acquire would be the maximum likely solution.
This season, Ugarte has made 35 appearances in all competitions, many of them coming off the bench and contributed 3 assists.
