OTTAWA – The race for conservative leadership reaches the final line at 5pm. the deadline is for the return of ballots to the party.

To date, more than 150,000 ballots have been won and a winner will be announced among the 4 applicants on Sunday night.

Leslyn Lewis, Peter MacKay, Erin O’Toole and Derek Sloan are competing for the most sensible work, which remained unresolved when current leader Andrew Scheer announced last December that he would resign once his successor was elected.

The leadership career saw several other people go through to make the cut, however, paying the $300,000 check and the 3,000 signatures required were too big an impediment to overcome.

This is especially true once the COVID-19 pandemic arrived, forcing applicants to leave face-to-face meetings, greet them and move on to fully virtual campaigns.

But as the restrictions subsided, the 4 applicants returned, as did the volunteers; some drove up to two hours to collect only one ballot, as the votes will count in the race.
