In this strange summer, we can all use the fun we can get. We saw Tiger King. Revisited The Mandalorian. I pulled the old Nintendo Wii out of the closet and played Mario Kart until our thumbs fell. Some of us have even gone to communicate with our families.
Desperate and all that.
And no study consultation is complete without identifying end-of-round gems that can become weekly headlines, or even league spikes.
That’s right, it’s bedtime.
Each of the following players has an average position in the draft (ADP) in Fantasy Football Calculator of at least the tenth round. Acquiring those players may not cost you much, but re-investment can pave the way for a championship.
Ben Roethlisberger, QB, Pittsburgh Steelers (ADP: QB16, Round 11)
That’s right, we’ve reached the point where a two-time Super Bowl winner and probably a Hall of Fame member in the first poll now sleeps.
Because 2020.
It is understandable that Ben Roethlisberger goes unnoticed in many projects. The 38-year-old has wasted time in 4 of the more than five seasons, adding up the 2019 crusade high due to an elbow injury.
However, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said at a convention that Roethlisberger’s elbow will be a major challenge in 2020, according to Dale Lolley of DK Pittsburgh Sports:
“He’s doing very well so far. He’s in a very intelligent physical condition. Rehabilitation with respect to the injury itself is going well. I hear only positive reports from that point of view. There were no bumps along the way. The fact that the injury and the next surgery that occurred so early in the season in 2019 is an advantage for him and us when we entered 2020. I think everyone’s comfortable with where things are. We’re excited about him and what he’s going to do for us this year. “
Just two seasons ago, Roethlisberger led the NFL with 5,129 air yards and threw the 34 best landing passes of his career. During the 2018 season, Roethlisberger followed Patrick Mahomes of Kansas City on fantasy issues among quarterbacks.
It’s written as a backup.
Darrell Henderson, RB, Los Angeles Rams (ADP: RB50, Round 10)
Still, according to Stu Jackson’s official website, Rams head coach Sean McVay insisted he saw an explanation for why to be positive in Henderson’s first year:
“With Darrell, he’s a guy who, when you paint him a lot when you got to Memphis, you like everything in his game. Full player, house run hitter, however, you’ve noticed in some of the runs he finished in the last year where he is also a finisher. I mean, it’s an elusive back, however, it was given a little strength and given a thickness sure that can allow you to have a smart balance of touch. And it’s over. “
Every time you choose a ball carrier in the two-digit rounds of a draft, it’s a dart throw. But with Todd Gurley in Atlanta now, the stage in the back box in Los Angeles is wide open. Veteran Malcolm Brown is a replacement points player. Rookie Cam Akers is talented, but has not yet reached an NFL practice area, let alone betting on a game.
Henderson will get in 2020 what he didn’t do in 2019: a genuine chance of demonstrating what he can do. If you take this opportunity, be careful.
Anthony Miller, WR, Chicago Bears (ADP: WR50, Round 11)
Asking fantasy managers to invest in any pass receiver for the Chicago Bears whose call is not Allen Robinson will give you an idea of how to provide them with a week-long egg salad sandwich.
At first glance, there doesn’t seem to be much excitement with Anthony Miller: he launched a 52/656/2 line of statistics in 2019 and ended the most sensitive 50 PPR problems among open receivers outdoors.
But as Marc Sessler wrote in NFL.com, those modest numbers don’t tell the full story of Miller’s future in his third season in the NFL:
“Allen Robinson is moving like the Chicago getaway, but Miller offers a possible escape after descending the stretch in 2019. He amassed 445 of his 656 yards after Week 9, highlighted over a 9/118/1 line opposite the Packers and 140 offshore yards, nine wins in a Thanksgiving victory over the Lions. Taylor Gabriel’s release means more clichés, while adding Nick Foles, if held, can tilt the transfer for one of the unmanageable maximum transitory attacks of 2019.”
The Bears desperately want a receiver to slip down as a viable No. 2 Robinson option (who is undervalued in his own right this year). In theory, the addition of Foles will improve the game in the middle of Windy City. And starting in week 10 of last year, Miller has quietly released high-end WR3 figures in PPR’s fantasy leagues.
The table is ready to escape the third year.
Jack Doyle, TE, Indianapolis Colts (ADP: TE17, round)
Outside of Indianapolis, you might not see Jack Doyle have many problems as one of the NFL’s most productive closed wings. It has no elite speed. Or the size. He’s never had 700 yards in reception or six touchdowns in a season. And it’s necessarily a post-fantasy thinking in 2020.
However, as Andrew Walker reported on the Colts’ official website, Doyle is a smart and brave player who has earned the respect of closed final coach Jason Michael:
“As for the main points of not giving things, being to give all your itineraries the same look, the most sensible thing about your itineraries is to be friendly for the quarterback, to be for the quarterback to give you the possibility to catch football and not allow the DB to play in it, or if so, Array is an interrupted pass , not an interception. And it’s just that confidence to know you’re going to be in the right position at the right time, and then handle it the right way for the guy who throws the ball.”
This ability to be in the right position at the right time will certainly please the new Colts quarterback, Philip Rivers, a pointer known to focus on the hard spot on a regular basis. With Eric Ebron now in Pittsburgh, Doyle is the most productive dog undisputed in his position for the Colts in 2020. As long as you stay healthy, it’s not so hard to believe you’re achieving more than 90 goals.
The only one again in his career (2017), Doyle hit 80 passes and finished sixth in PPR problems in his position.
