The Tottenham star’s ‘nosedive’ as Levy prepares for a big monetary coup; New Favorites Emerge

Tottenham Hotspur will lose a lot of money with the promotion of Giovani Lo Celso this summer; Reportedly, the Argentine’s value has “collapsed”.

In August 2019, Tottenham agreed a loan deal with an option to buy with Real Betis for Lo Celso. According to The Guardian, the move was aimed at the club’s record signing of Tanguy Ndombele.

The following January, Tottenham opted to sign the attacking central midfielder permanently, while also securing a significant discount. The north London side paid around £27 million in the end, far less than the €60 million (£55 million) deal that had been discussed earlier.

However, Lo Celso never lived up to expectations at Tottenham. Since then, he has made 103 appearances for the club, but has only scored 10 goals and provided 8 assists.

The 28-year-old has also enjoyed two loan spells at Villarreal, but since returning to Spurs last summer, he has more often than not had to settle for a position on the bench.

Lo Celso has played 19 times this season, only 4 of those outings lasting more than an hour. Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou prefers to use other midfielders such as Pape Sarr, Yves Bissouma and Rodrigo Bentancur in the middle of the park.

On Sunday, it seemed that Betis were hoping to have Lo Celso back this summer. Such a move would see him married to former Arsenal right-back Hector Bellerin and former West Ham United star Pablo Fornals.

But Betis are no longer the favourites to get Lo Celso, as claimed by the Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, Napoli have burst into the draw.

Napoli want their midfield and know Lo Celso, Shakhtar Donetsk’s Georgiy Sudakov and Betis’ Guido Rodriguez as possible signings.

In a major boost for the Italian club, the price of Lo Celso’s move has “collapsed” in recent months because he has just warmed up the Spurs bench.

Transfermarkt claims he is now worth just €16 million (£14 million), the report suggests he could be on the move for even less than that. As such, Spurs president Daniel Levy will have to suffer a primary defeat by firing the playmaker this summer. .

Obviously, Lo Celso will be attracted by the opportunity to return to Spain with Betis. However, the fact that Napoli have recently won the Scudetto means that they will most likely settle for their offer and try a new adventure in Italy.

Napoli have slipped to eighth place this season, Lo Celso could help them in their quest to return to the top four next season.
