CAPE CITY, South Africa – The first one-day foreign attack between South Africa and England was cancelled on Sunday and the time of attack was postponed after two members of England’s tour team returned “unfirmed positive tests” to COVID-19 following an outbreak in Cape Town hotel where the two groups are staying.
The Cricket Council of England and Wales announced the results of the checks, but did not call the other people who tested positive, nor did it indicate whether they were players or behind-the-scenes staff. The ECB said it would now have these irreverent positive checks independently ratified through medical experts.
The two positives came here after a new test run for England players and officials on Saturday night. These additional tests were activated through the news that two cape town hotel members used through both teams, believed to be a biosafe environment had tested positive for coronavirus.
Development ruined the English tour, which had already been counted after three South African players tested positive for COVID-19. The groups played a 3-game Twenty20 series before the IO.
The first ODI in the vicinity of the city of Paarl was first delayed less than an hour before Sunday’s departure and then cancelled. It had already been postponed since Friday after the announcement of the third South African player tested positive.
The reorganization schedule due to this first postponement caused the ODI moment to be postponed to Monday, the time fit and then postponed without a new date later on Sunday while England waited for the effects of positive testing to be confirmed in their organization.
In a joint statement, the ECB and Cricket South Africa said they would “discuss how to proceed in relation to the remaining two matches in this ODI series” once they have verified the verification results.
Players and control of England have isolated the the most advice in their hotel rooms until medical groups get more advice, the ECB said.
The England team was due to return home on Thursday, however, it may even be in doubt now whether players and officers are forced into an era of mandatory quarantine in South Africa.
Despite the ECB’s diplomatic public statements, it is very embarrassing for Cricket South Africa and the government guilty of protecting biobubble at the hotel.
Two of the South African players tested positive ahead of the T20 series, which took position despite concerns. England won this series 3-0. The lack of a positive check from the South African team led the CSA to launch an investigation last week into how the player was inflamed in the bio-bubble of the hotel located in the lush suburb of Cape Town, near the Newlands cricket ground. Second, CSA admitted that England had the right to engage in COVID-19 protocols at the hotel.
Sunday’s news of more cases among hotel staff and in all likelihood members of England’s travel organization said attempts to protect both organizations had failed.
“We know deeply the scenario on which we are located after the time and power that has been put in position to organize a successful tour,” said ASC Cricket Director Graeme Smith. “We are in talks with the ECB as we navigate the stage under the leadership of our combined medical teams. “
In a statement, the hotel said it investigates how its two employees, who lived on the biofuel facilities and had not left the hotel since November 16, said the hotel.
All English players and officials now face additional quarantine needs imaginable before meeting with their families before Christmas. South African regulations require that anyone who has tested positive for coronavirus or been in close contact with an inflamed user with the virus be quarantined for 14 ODI series to end on Wednesday , with England departing the next day on a plane chartered to London.
The Six-Game Limited Tour organized in the short term to fill the gaps in the calendar of the two groups created through the virus pandemic, but turns out to be an unforeseen off-the-spot, coinciding with South Africa, once one of the top affected countries in the world, seeing symptoms of a momentary outbreak of the virus.
All six games would be played in Cape Town and Paarl to restrict the movement of players and officers, however, it is one of the regions of South Africa that is now experiencing a build-up of virus cases.
