Jadon Sancho, on loan from Manchester United, has revealed that he has been feeling good lately and is enjoying a return to betting football.
Sancho ended a loan spell at Borussia Dortmund in January after he and Erik ten Hag failed to amicably resolve their differences.
The winger was banned from United’s first team through Ten Hag after he publicly accused the Dutch manager of being a liar.
Sancho also claimed that he is being treated as a scapegoat at United. The player had several opportunities to apologize, but he was too stubborn. In the end, a parting of paths thought to be the most productive result.
The Englishman gave a hand in his second debut for Dortmund and, indeed, joined the club as if he had never left.
Sancho spoke to the Bundesliga website and opened up on a number of topics including life at Signal Iduna Park so far and his early formative days as a young player.
When asked about his first few weeks in Germany, he replied: “My first few weeks were brilliant. I was welcomed as if I were a family. I’m happy to be playing football again. When I play football, I’m the happiest. I’m just thankful to be back. I miss the stadiums here. These are emblematic stadiums, especially BVB’s.
“It was amazing [fainting in front of the yellow wall again]. I get chills when I play in front of this kind of crowd. They inspire me. Positive power is really vital for us players when we faint on the field, knowing that “Each and every one is behind you one hundred percent. It’s probably even more powerful since the last time I was here. I get hit every time I play. “
Sancho revealed that in meetings with Dortmund coach Edin Terzić, he only asked to take his loan one game at a time.
The 23-year-old added that the transition from England was less difficult because he knew his Dortmund teammates such as Marco Reus and Bynoe-Gittens as well.
When put to task about what he aims to achieve with the Bundesliga giants by the end of the season, Sancho stated, “When I first came, Dortmund weren’t in the best position. I think if we take it game by game and keep winning step by step, I feel like we should be in the top two as a minimum and qualify for the Champions League.”
He recalled his early days in Kennington, where he grew up and first immersed himself in his love and hobby of soccer.
Sancho explained that his current style of play which is characterised by flair and swagger was moulded by his participation in cage football.
“To be fair, cage football and academy football is very different. Cage football is freedom. You express yourself. Whereas at an academy it’s like a system. You have to do it by the rules. Or maybe however the coach wants. If the coach doesn’t like something, he might tell you off. It’s lucky for me I was doing cage football till around 12 years old. I wasn’t in an academy before that.”
The United loanee described his DFB Cup trophy with Dortmund in 2021 following his move to Old Trafford as “iconic”.
