Thibaut Courtois insists real Madrid have the power to win the Champions League

Real Madrid have shown, for the most part, an unstoppable strength in the Champions League with Zinedine Zidane at the helm.

Prior to the season, the Frenchman had guided Los Blancos to three consecutive Champions League titles.

The 2019/20 campaign, however, saw Spanish giants withdraw from the festival in the last 16 stages, off Manchester City.

As a result, Madrid will certainly be willing to prove once it returns that it will remain the dog in Europe in the coming months.

Their first Champions League of the season will see the Merengues receive Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday.

In addition to Shakhtar, Real Madrid tied for Group B alongside Inter Milan and Borussia Monchengladbach.

Before his opening attack on the night of the European season, the Real No. 1 Thibaut Courtois spake with the media.

The Belgian striker addressed several issues at the press conference, one of which involved his team in the competition.

And, with pretty much the same team that crashed in last season’s first knockout round, Courtois believes Madrid still has the quality to go all the way this time:

“I have confidence in this team and I think we can win the competition. Real Madrid starts as a favorite for this tournament and we have the quality to win the Champions League.

The former Chelsea player also spoke on Wednesday about Sergio Ramos’ absence.

And although Courtois admitted that Zidane’s men would miss his captain, if the crash did not pass, the Belgian also rushed to make sure he trusted the others to catch up on the Spaniard:

“We’ll see tomorrow. He’s the captain and they’re going to miss him. We have other world-class defenders and we have a very deep team. We’ll miss him if he doesn’t play because he’s the captain but I accept as true with the other players. “
