This quote from Cam Newton is a little ironic after the positive Patriots QB

As you’ve actually heard now, New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton tested positive for COVID-19. The organization showed positive control of the appellant with a Saturday.

That also led to the Patriots’ game against the Kansas City Chiefs, scheduled last Sunday, to be tentatively postponed by Monday or Tuesday.

That actually surprised New England fans, and perhaps even the Patriots organization, especially after an express quote about Newton’s media availability on Thursday.

The express exchange began when a journalist asked Newton if he felt welcome by New England fans, to which he replied:

“It’s a complicated question. I felt incredibly welcome, but as far as in-person enthusiasts were concerned, I didn’t, and for apparent reasons. But I pass in town, it’s a lot of love,” Newton said.

Newton then asked about a follow-up to see if he had been able to make a stopover in the Boston/Providence area, to which he replied:

“Thanks to Dolla Bill (head coach Bill Belichick) and old Micky D (offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels), I had my plate full,” Newton said humorously. “So I couldn’t get out much. But it’s my to-do list. “

Although we can read the scenario (we’re probably), it’s ironic that those quotes appeared two days before Newton’s positive result.

Newton placed himself on the Patriots/COVID-19 reserve list and will not be active for the game opposite the Chiefs on Tuesday, if they play it.

NESN’s DOUG Kyed reported Saturday that the Patriots intend to pitch quarterback Brian Hoyer (not Jarrett Stidham) if they face the Chiefs in a Game of the Week.
