This trait of Cam Newton ‘delighted’ his coach Patriots QB

From dance moves on the stretch line to audible exclamations every time one of his offensive teammates makes a remarkable move, Cam Newton brought contagious power to his first New England Patriots education camp.

That positive aspect resonated with the Patriots’ new quarterback coach, Jedd Fisch, who praised Newton on Monday in an interview with WEEI’s Greg Hill Show.

“(I was) very happy to see that what you see is real, it’s authentic,” Fisch said. “That’s what it is. The air of mystery it has is every day. He’s incredibly consistent as a person. Whether it’s the noisy personality, if it’s the way he leads, if it’s every single thing he brings, the educational routine, his ethical painting, is the same every day.

“I don’t know if surprise is the right word, as much as excited to be. Because that’s what you can paint with. When you know what you get every day, you can make all the mandatory changes, changes and every single thing you want to do to check it to help.”

The life of the NFL educational field may depend on safe players. Newton, however, treats the practice as a form of “recreation,” Fisch said.

“Obviously, Cam is going on to stand out because you hear him, you see,” the coach said at WEEI. “He actually likes the game, but I feel like when Cam runs on the educational realm, it’s a recreation for him. It’s an opportunity to pass and play. We didn’t forget that when we were kids and the bell rang, we had to pass out and take a break from the paintings and pass the game.

“That’s the kind of feeling I have of Cam every time he comes here. It’s a satisfied place, and I think it’s amazing.”

Newton has taken a clear lead over fellow contenders to field marshal Jarrett Stidham and Brian Hoyer, monopolizing representatives in recent education as Stidham fights a hip injury. On Sunday, Newton took 39 practices in 7-on-7 and 11-11, while Hoyer took 21 and Stidham won zero.

Fisch said Stidham, who hasn’t done as many rehearsals since last Wednesday, will soon return to action. The fourth round selection of 2019 participated in the positioning training on the Sunday before observing the competitive parts of the training.

“I don’t think it’s too long, ” said Fisch at WEEI. “Jarrett took almost every representative in terms of having representatives. I think there’s only been one practice. So I don’t see that as a big festival problem.”
