In August 2008, Lazio flew to Beijing to play Inter in the Italian Super Cup. The Biancocelesti won the Coppa Italia in a wonderful way and had to face the powerful Inter who had comfortably won the scudetto. There is still hope and the awareness that the Nerazzurri were much more powerful than Lazio.

The Biancocelesti had a new coach, Davide Ballardini, and there were Goran Pandev, Cristian Ledesma and Lorenzo De Silvestri, all of whom had refused to renew their contracts and had fallen out with president Claudio Lotito.

The first half was balanced. Inter had their opportunities, but so did Lazio. In the 62nd minute, the Biancocelesti scored. Free kick from thirty meters almost in the center, Aleksandar Kolarov tried the great shot, the ball first hit the wall, then against another Inter player and arrived in a favorable position for Francelino Matuzalem. His volley was deflected by Julio César, but he bounced off the Lazio player’s face and went in. Four minutes later, the Biancocelesti doubled their lead. Stefano Mauri, just an Inter intern, sent a very good ball to Tommaso Rocchi, who hit it with his chest and before Christian Chivu or Lucio could intervene, he sent a magnificent lob over Julio César and into the net.

Inter reacted and besieged Lazio. They cut the deficit with Eto’o, but the Biancocelesti controlled by little merit and managed to win.

Lazio won its third Super Cup.

Orlando Rozzoni, a huge center forward for the time, similar, it is said, to Christian Vieri if it is necessary to have a general idea.

Born in Treviglio, near Bergamo, on July 23, 1937, he signed for Lazio in 1959. It quickly became a fan favorite. He is a big, powerful and old-fashioned centre-forward. He nicknamed “Orlando Furioso” after the main character of Ludovico Ariosto’s Italian epic poem.

Her first year was a brilliant year: thirteen goals and a great feeling with her offensive spouse Humberto Tozzi. The second year was not very smart, not for him personally, but the team was relegated to Serie B. Lazio, in financial difficulties, were forced in 1961 to sell him to Udinese. He returned after a year and was decisive in Lazio’s promotion.

He played one hundred games for Lazio (74 in Serie A, 20 in Serie B and 6 in Coppa Italia) scoring 41 goals (26 in Serie A, 10 in Serie B and five in Coppa Italia).

He has never ceased to be a fan favourite and Lazio Club Milan is named after him as Renzo Garlaschelli.

He died on August 7, 2009.
